The CIVA software is dedicated to non-destructive testing including Ultrasonic, X-ray/gamma-ray/ computed tomography, Eddy Current and Guided Waves techniques. It allows us to simulate expected defect detection for specific geometries and to gain a statistical background for probablility-of-detection (POD) curves. POD-curves including detection and dimensioning uncertainties can together with fracture mechanics assess if a defect can be allowed to remain in the inspected object.

The CIVA tool is also used in the process of ultrasonic probe design, both for conventional probes and for phased array probes.
